Chengdu has excellent living supporting facilities - the south and west districts are the most developed areas offering comfortable living environment for both Chinese and expatriates - with many restaurants, coffee shops, shopping centers, international schools and medical services:
School
There are over ten bilingual schools in the city including the Chengdu Meishi International School, Chengdu American School, Leman International School and Chengdu International School, and bilingual kindergartens, such as Golden Apple, Beite and Mammy House.
Hotel and housing
Chengdu has more than 30 foreign invested hotels and nearly 6,000 inns, including 27 four-star hotels and 14 five-star hotels, such as Jinjiang Hotel, Sheraton Chengdu Lido Hotel, Crowne Plaza Hotel Chengdu, Sofitel Wanda Chengdu, Kempinski Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel and Intercontinental Century City Chengdu. There is a wide selection of apartment compounds suitable for expatriates: a) nearby the Shangri-La Hotel (city center), b) nearby the Kempinski Hotel and Carrefour shopping center in the southern part of the city.
Shopping
There are plenty of places in Chengdu for daily shopping including local stores such as Hongqi and Renmin Department Store, or international superstores such as Carrefour, Wal-Mart, Ito-Yokado, IKEA, Metro, Auchan and Decathlon.
Entertainment and catering
Chengdu is famous for its hospitality, catering and night-life. You will find here all major foreign food outlets (McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Haagen-Dazs, etc…) but also typical local restaurants serving delicious Sichuan food.
Chengdu has two golf course built on international standards including the Mumashan International Golf Court and Qingchengshan Golf Court, located only 15 kilometers and 45 kilometers respectively from downtown.
